In order to reduce ice build-ups on the back of an evaporator, it is important to control humidity within the Cold Room. For severe instances a block of ice can accumulate which will completely block the air flow. When Evaporators become blocked due to dust or ice build-ups, they become inefficient and cause the Condensing unit to work harder.
Condensing units are constructed with a compressor to pump gas. If a Compressor overheats, it is turned off by a thermal cut out switch, located at the top of the compressor. This situation is commonly mistaken in industry as a breakdown.
Data logs have been used in the condensing unit to provide statistics of its cycles. The data logs have shown that the Condensing unit cycles off for longer and compressors run at cooler temperatures with Cold Room Door Curtains installed.
